PARALLEL ACTIVITIES

The Chess Films Week (May 30 – June 7) - Several films related to chess will be shown at the El Albeitar Hall, at the Leon University, selected and presented by Miguel Angel Nepomuceno. Some of them are real jewels, very difficult to find through the normal distribution channels.

Lecture by GM Illescas for young talents (Wednesday, June 2nd) - GM Miguel Illescas, seven times Spanish champion, will give a special lecture on chess openings to 15 outstanding schools players from Leon, at the Press Club (Diario de Leon).

Lecture by Leontxo Garcia (Saturday, June 5th) - The famous Spanish journalist Leontxo García will give a lecture on “Chess a social tool” at the “Instituto Leones de Cultura”, at noon.

IV “Young Talents”, “La Crónica de León” Tournament (Sunday, June 6th) - This rapid tournament, on his fourth edition, will be played from 10.00 at the Leon Auditorium, sponsored by “La Crónica de León” newspaper.

Simuls by GM Aronian (Monday June 7th) - World Number Five GM Levon Aronian will give a simultaneous exhibition against 25 amateurs from 17.30 at the Facultad de Filosofia y Letras (University).
