TOURNAMENT RULES

1)

The City of Leon Masters Tournament will be played in June, 3-7, with three game days: 4th (Friday), 5th (Saturday) and 6th (Sunday)..

The four players will compete under the FIDE Active Chess rules.

The playing system will be a typical knock out, with semi-finals (first one on Friday and second one on Saturday) and final (Sunday). The two players with a better ranking will not play each other in the semi-finals. Their opponents, as well as the colours for the first game, will be decided by a drawing of lots controlled by the Chief Arbiter, Joaquin Espejo on June 3rd (Thursday) at the Conde Luna Hotel.

Each match will be played to the best of four games (20 minutes per player + 10 seconds increment after each move). However, all four games will be played, even if the match winner has been already decided. If the result after four games is 2-2, a five minute games tiebreak match will be played immediately after the fourth normal game. If there is still a tie, the Armageddon system will be played: four minute for White, five minute for Black, and Black will be consider the winner if there is a draw.
